For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 3,399 Gas Pumper | | Gas Pumper Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 3,399 | The 1947-1955 Harrison Deluxe Heater has a few small parts that our regular vendors do not seem to carry. One of them is the two rubber bumpers that are inside the heater that keep things quiet when you turn the defroster knob. They are 1/8" and I found two sources that I want to share so the next time someone needs them, they can search here to find them. www.marshallshardware.com0505510 Rubber Bumper 1/8x5/16x11/64 http://www.marshallshardware.com/pr...0%20%20%20%20%20&kw=0505510&st=0www.steelerubber.comp/n: 33-0127-41 Rubber Bumper 1/8x5/16x5/32 http://www.steelerubber.com/glovebox-and-fuel-door-bumper-33-0127-41Both will work great. I do not have both to compare, but the Marshals offering is .69 cents each, while the Steele Rubber ones are $1. We all know that Steele Rubber is very hard to beat in quality. The part I am having more trouble with is the 1953 Heater with the extra dual closing doors. There is a rubber blade that goes across the larger door. Haven't found that one yet. Hope this helps someone down the road. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9,671 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9,671 | You mean I wasted my time making a mold copied off the original bumper and then vulcanizing them when I could have bought them for a buck? http://www.pbase.com/dennygraham/image/134930871 dg

Wow, newbie here and wasn't aware of either Marshall's or Steelerubber. Both sites are loaded with all kinds of great items.
Thanks so much for the links! Jeff | | | | | Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 3,399 Gas Pumper | | Gas Pumper Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 3,399 | Very impressive Denny! This is the sort of ingenuity that is hard to find. The thought of making my own rubber bumpers wouldn't even occur to me. Were you a bootlegger in your past life? Someone has to make the stopper that goes in the top of the bottle! Seriously amazing! | | | | | Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 3,399 Gas Pumper | | Gas Pumper Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 3,399 | I found a 12v heater motor that is listed at Chevs of the 40s as the very same outside dimensions as the original 6 volt motor. Since this isn't normal, I ordered one. I needed it anyway so good time to find out. No Cigar! Same dimensions as all of the 12v motors out there. As I normally do, I will put the 12v motor inside the 6 volt case and do the usual thing. The part number on this motor is VDO PM354. Since this is a big issue because the motor has to look right on the firewall, at least we have a way to do it without going to huge lengths. | | |
