Is there 4 digits or 3 ?
What is interesting is your engine block was cast, D 10 7 April 10, 1957 and 5 days later it was stamped T415A April 15, 1957 You could say it took GM 5 days to cast and assemble your engine. It is common to see the letter i (eye) used for the number 1 (one). Factory worker must of only been issued the letter i (eye) die stamp.

F = Flint, Michigan, engine assembly plant 5 = May 04 = 4th day B = Regular engine with Powerglide trans. Both engines you have went into Chevrolet Cars. As far as I know the Truck & Car engine blocks are the same. I think the only way to tell the difference between a Car & truck engine block, is the hand stamped engine serial number. It is located to the left of the distributor on a flat machined boss. And whatever is attached to the engine. Example would be the car breather tube is S shaped to go around side engine mount. The truck breather tube is almost straight. Also, I would like sometime to get clarification maybe from Dave about this harmonic balancer size issue. The rpm of the fan is the issue, but I am wondering if that is a severe issue, a likely okay issue, or what? | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 | Engines that are set-up for hydraulic lifters have an extra oil galley drilled the full length of the engine to supply oil to them. A engine that is drilled for supplying oil to hydraulic lifters can run either hydraulic or solid lifters. An engine that is not drilled can only run solids(although I have devised a way to use hydraulic lifters in my test engine that is not drilled). The main issue with balancer pulley diameter is fan speed. If the fan is over speed-ed, it can lead to fan cracking/failure.

Maybe the 3:55 gear set later. And will any 216 balancer work ?? Thanks
