I am about to turn my 53 3100 over to a body and paint guy. Trying to provide him with everything that he will need to assemble my truck, after all of the panels have been fit, straightened and painted. Long story short, my Dad was helping with a restoration back in 2001. He tore the truck apart. I wasn't there to see what came off where. Wanted to know if any of you can help. I have both the old Front Fender Skirt Body Seal Retainer plates and staples in them. A illustration of them can be seen in the 1947-1954 Truck Factory Assembly Manual, Section 11, Sheet 14.00. I am sure a few of you have that manual. The rubber has long since perished, on both of them. First off, has anybody had any experience with these? Second, are they necessary for the fit and anti-squeaking? Not seeing them available in any of the major reproduction parts catalogs. I did purchase an Inner Fender & Front Seal Kit already. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Rugo

DADS50,

Thank you for the response. You are correct, the seal that I need is in that kit. I guess I was looking for just the to rubber seals by themselves. Appreciate your help.

I don't think you want to eliminate that seal

DAD50,

I a fully plan on using it. If the truth be known, I have been buying parts for the last 14 years, since the truck has been in pieces. We have moved twice in the time. The last move was from Washington to Arizona. I have been sorting through boxes and totes, full of parts. After I posted my question, I actually found that exact fender gasket set in a box. Had forgot that I had even bought it. Used to live within 10 miles of Chev's of the 40's. Slowly, I am getting a grip on my inventory of parts, new, old and NOS. Thank you for your help and advice.

I would like to see a video of the assembly process including the proper placement of all of those anti-squeak seals as well as the beaded fender welt.
