Will a 56 chevy stepside bed fit a 63 stepside or shortbed frame? Are they interchangeable? I measured 81 inches on the 63 is the 56 the same length and width :confused: and does it bolt up the same?

I believe I have read on this page that short beds from 55 to 66 are the same. Check the catalogs for new bed strips. If the 55 to 66 are the same part number, then the bed supports are in the same position, and you should have a perfect swap. I bought a mid-80s short bed for my 57, and have no doubt that it will fit just fine, after changing the fenders. Any misinformation in this message should be corrected ASAP.

55-66 stepsides are the same - mount bolt holes might be slightly different cuz the frames are different between 56 and 63, but should be able to fudge it easily - I put a bed from a 62 on my 57 - which actually has a 58 frame
