I'm also converting it to a propeller shaft with out the torque tube out of a 1946 Chevrolet 1 1/2 ton truck. I was able to find the parts to convert the four speed transmission to have exposed yoke. I'm just having trouble finding u-joints for a 1946 Chevrolet 3/4 ton and 1946 Chevrolet 1 1/2 ton truck? | | | | Joined: Nov 2011 Posts: 1,608 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2011 Posts: 1,608 | | | | | Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 158 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 158 | When I was pressing the u-joint out of the slip yoke tonight. I didn't notice that one side was damaged and when I went to press out the cup it broke off one of the snap ring grooves. Are the slip yokes off a 1947-54 3/4ton the same as a 1946 3/4 ton? | | | | Joined: Nov 2011 Posts: 1,608 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2011 Posts: 1,608 | I am not positive, but think so as the same u-joints fit the non-synchronized 4 speed and the SM420. | | |
