This is my first post on this website. When I bought the truck, it had two bucket seats sitting in the cab (not hooked down). I would like to put in a stock bench seat. Does anyone know which years of seats interchange with the '63? I'm going to try and find a used one and narrowing it down to one model year kind of limits my possibilities. I don't mind doing minor modifications, redrilling holes and that kind of thing.
Thanks! | | | | Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 2,917 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 2,917 | Welcome to the Stovebolt! My 1965 had S10 seats. I was lucky to find a stock seat at the salvage yard. I first bought a 1967-1972 seat and it bolted right in. I later bought a 1966 seat so it would be "correct". The 1967-72 seats are a little different. It didn't fold forward. I think you should look for a 1963-66 seat if you want it to fold forward. | | | | Joined: May 2007 Posts: 1,715 Moderator: 60-66 Trucks; North Eastern Bolters | Moderator: 60-66 Trucks; North Eastern Bolters Joined: May 2007 Posts: 1,715 | Cedric, Welcome. I am pretty sure you can widen your candidates to 1960-1966. Junk yards in your area are your source, but it will take some recovering from there. You and I are picking the same yards for the same parts now. You find something nice that you don't want to claim, please pass the lead. My '65 C10 had a 1990 Chevy truck bench seat in it when I bought it. Nice comfortable seat, back folded forward, and it had a flip down center arm rest. That series of truck was made from 1988-2002. So if your not to concerned about originality... there's a bunch of seats that will work great for you. _____ John | | | | Joined: Sep 2015 Posts: 75 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2015 Posts: 75 | Thank you guys! I think I'll try to find an original seat in a scrap yard unless those are prohibitively expensive. Unfortunately I don't think I'll make it to Winchester this weekend, we are remodeling our house and need all the weekends we can get. I'll certainly pass on any good parts I find (and don't want) | | | | Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 230 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 230 | for my c10 62, I got a 1995 Ford Lariat bench seat out of a salvage yard. fits like a glove, and because of its large supply, the price was <$100. I had it recovered in original Chevy design and colors. This is a cheapo fix, but no one but you will know. | | | | Joined: Jul 2015 Posts: 37 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jul 2015 Posts: 37 | Don't know if yours has carpet under the seat or not. If not, you can easily look for the original holes for the bench seat. I just put new carpet in my 63 and I have the original bench seat. There are 8 holes drilled in the metal under he seat. There are four brackets on the seat frame where it attaches o the floor; two in front and two in back on opposite sides that hold the bench down. The holes for those should already be drilled in the metal if they didn't change it (metal floor) when they put in the bucket seats. Just find those and most of the bench seats ('62-'66) will match up. But before you buy one, if you find and measure those holes, or trace a template with a piece of paper and a pencil, you can take it with you and see if it matches the brackets on the bench you may find so you don't waste money on the wrong configuration. Hope this helps.
