For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jul 2015 Posts: 3 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jul 2015 Posts: 3 | Finished putting in the 2nd new fuel pump (2nd new one since the 1st from Carter's had a defect and leaked). Before that I discovered the throttle cable wasn't connected, fixed that and adjusted the idle screw and before that the starter quit, so I took it apart, cleaned it well and all works great now.
After idle testing, I wanted to take a short trip around the block to make sure everything was good. Beautiful starter sound, good idle, nice shift into 1st gear. Made it to the end of the driveway when the brakes went completely out. Nothing - just the pedal to the floor - several times! They worked ok the last time I had it running, but now there was nothing. No time to panic, checked for traffic and had to let her roll to a stop a short distance away. Guess I'll be in here for a lot of brake help now! Such seems to be the life of restoring an old beauty. *sigh*
