I have been trying to make up a pair of running 1 ton running boards for my 9 foot 1 ton pickup truck...trying to cobb a pair of normal size running boards to a set of dump truck (really short) running boards...I have cut and chopped myself into a corner....cant seem to be able to get anything to line up..... has anybody cobbed up a pair of 9 foot bed long bed running boards before????
I am about to leave them off...it isn't really worth this much thought to get them to mount onto the truck...Maybe does anybody have any pictures of the super long running boards that I can reference?? (mounted on the truck)...
Any insight would be great...

Patched in panels and it was done poorly. After doing all the straighting I could I was able to get the ribs to look very good by cutting a body filler applicator to match the rib and valley. I then did the filler. There was a bit of filing and a few finish coats but it came out very nice. I spent a month on just the pair.there are some before photos in photobucket. I have finished photos I can send you. I sold them and the person who bought them was happy. There is hope!

Were you going to fit that next? You'll want the step to handle your weight.

Yuppers I am waiting for them to show up from Florida...I bought a set (used and abused) of 6 for $75.00 shipped to me door..I might have to add a couple extra just for some extra support...
never drove a truck with running boards before...this should be an experience for sure...never owned a truck this big either....hoping it will not scare me when driving time comes around...still cant wait to get it done...

I started driving mine on my 17th birthday and found it to be very maneuverable, it'll fit easily where modern full size trucks won't, and good visibility.

He ribbed them by welding a thin (1/8" high, 1" wide) piece to the top and rounding the exposed edges. You can't tell the difference between the raised thin piece vs. the passenger side with a depressed edge. Cool idea. I can send a photo if you're interested. 1947 - 3800 dually known as "Deadwrench"Link to a few photosIn this world there are givers and takers. Learned a lot from that donor. Curiously, my 3803 (cab & chassis) frame already had the bracket holes. Bolted right up.

I don't have the splash aprons figured out yet but the this weekend we will finish bolting my new 1 ton running boards on it. All the brackets are welded to the frame...holes are all drilled for the running boards...I am short 8 5/16" x 2" long bolts and we will be one less project away from getting this thing out of the garage... cant wait
