I know it has been asked already...

I am left with some questions.

What engine mounts to use?
What radiator and shroud to use use?
What what exhaust manifold to use? Has anyone had luck tig-ing the trimmed stockers

Ok after a lot of digging in internet land... in case anyone else is looking for the same info.

What engine mounts: Same as the 283 front mount to cross member.
Others can be used but that would require making holes or welding.

What radiator shroud: Original 283 can be cut down or there were original thinner ones fan should be half in and half out of the shroud.


Exhaust manifolds: I have read that folks have ground and tig welded a manifold with success.

I just paged through all the pictures on our '48 build. I'm not a fan of the chopped top, but I have to give you props for your fabrication skills. You do beautiful work!! Nice job.

Thanks. The push is on to try and make it drivable by April for our anniversary. Do you have a build thread anywhere?

Yes and no. I'm working on a 58 Suburban. Not really a build, more of a freshening up. I was able to get a nice original/complete truck with very little rust. Problem is that it's in storage in a cave in Kansas City and I'm stationed in Kuwait for 2 years. I'll pick back up when I get back to the states.
