And I cleaned all the rocks and weep holes and help is appreciated. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 3,399 Gas Pumper | | Gas Pumper Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 3,399 | The 59 motor has a unique tube that disperses the oil. In the center of the rocker assembly is that fitting with the tube sticking down into the head to accept oil.. it does NOT have a loop around. The ONLY exit for the oil that comes up through that hole in the Head, is through the rocker shafts and weep holes. Does that fitting have a loop-around to let oil just dump out onto the head AS WELL AS a pipe to the rockers? If so, it's the wrong fitting. Pre68Dave will have other ideas I am sure. Hes the go-to guy for this problem. Also, run compressed air through that pipe with the rocker assembly setting on a table and see if you have air coming out of the weep holes. Hope this helps! | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | The 59 motor has a unique tube that disperses the oil. . . It that tube unique to 1959 235/261 engines? | | | | | Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 3,399 Gas Pumper | | Gas Pumper Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 3,399 | 59 or later I think, but Dave would know for sure. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | My guess is all 1959-1963 235/261 engines. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 142 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 142 | It does have the correct t tube no outlet except thru the rockers.do the weep holes sit on top or bottom?they were on the bottom I put them on top and now have very good flow.is this correct? | | | | | Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 3,399 Gas Pumper | | Gas Pumper Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 3,399 | I THINK the shaft holes point down. This is so the oil can be distributed to the valves and lifters. Each rocker has a groove and it is offset (not in the middle of each rocker) to one side. They should be clear so the weep holes can work. So if it works with them up, my next question would be are you getting 30psi oil pressure? I am at home, but tomorrow I can check if the holes point up or down for sure. My short term memory isn't getting better. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 142 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 142 | | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 | Holes do go down. If the rockers or shafts have very much wear it can be hard for the oil to get to the vent hole.
