I put on the door weatherstrip. The right way but the door is not flush. I do not have the latch on yet but think it may not close

Ever come across this?

almost always - some of the repro rubber is not very accurate sized, and any of it takes some time to "crush" to fit, remember it needs to be quite tight to actually seal against water and air leaks and rattles, you might get a bit better fit adjusting the hinges and latches, but a good slam to latch it, then letting it sit for awhile in warm weather will help

I have a clamp on the door now (protecting the paint of course) to get it used to the crush until the mechanical parts are installed

I have had this issue on two AD trucks. What I did was adjust the striker to allow it to close without having to slam the door to close it. This would give me a gap, leaving the door appearing to not be latched completely (the door still seals fine). After a month or so to allow the seal to crush into shape, I re-adjusted the striker to bring the door into the proper position. Doing it this way allows you to close the door without ever having to slam it shut.

Just did mine on my 63 with stripping from Classic Parts. Same thing. One side is better than the other but driver side I have to slam. Tried to adjust striker and hinges just made it worse.

I had the same issue. Had to pull it off and redo it with thinner stuff.

The only place I found it was:

Pricey but worked.

Thanks for the info. Looks the same as what I got. Is it really thinner? Where did your other come from? Did you give it any time to 'relax' or did your door just stay hard to shut?

It's about a quarter inch thinner. The door is still tight but will shut.

The other came from Arrowhead Truck parts.
