They are straped between two of the crossmembers. I'm not sure it they did it that way in '46... Have you checked out Tanks Inc.? Built a 46 around 25 years ago and it has a junk yard tank in it. Had to make mounting brackets and move filler but was not a hard job. It comes in several fuel capacities with an available intake fuel pump sending unit. I used a 13 gallon tank in my 46 Chevy truck. A couple of small brackets and straps is all you need to install it. Fill is through the bed. | | |
