A friend who recently looked at a 36 as a project just got a glance at the engine compartment & thinks he saw a flathead? I always thought that all 1930's trucks were OHV...

I looked and looked and could not find anything on this except this in Wikipedia... "Oldsmobile's flathead straight six in Chevrolet and GMC trucks - In 1935 and 1936, GMC and Chevrolet used an Oldsmobile 213 L-head engine. For 1937 and 1938, they used Oldsmobile's 230 L-head engine..."

Anyone know anything else? Just curious...

That would be correct for a GMC, but Chevrolet would have used their own OHV engine.

GMC also used Pontiac flatheads, maybe not in pickups, though. I have a 2 carb. Manifold for an Olds flathead.
