There are slight differences 47-50 and 51-54 (1/2 ton). Maybe someone knows the importance (or, lack of importance) of those differences? Jim Carter lists 48-55 with a note for 48-50.

For one, it is the only year that has the parking brake handle in the center floor beside the floor shifter. I'm thinking the 1947 may require a special cable and linkage setup in the front. The rear cables might be the same.

Given the specs in the 1929 - 1954 Chevrolet MASTER PARTS and ACCESSORIES CATALOG, its an 1/8" difference in length (40 3/4" vs. 40 7/8"). Provided that the correct link is used to connect to the Huck parking brake lever these cables should work. In fact, the 34-3806 cable measures 41" according to the vendor.
Any other thoughts or ideas out there?

I won't disagree with the master parts data, but my experience differs. Ultimately I purchased a custom cable from Inline Tube. It cost a bit more than the catalog options, but it fit. The clip is attached to the lever on the rear brake shoe. Confusing, I know. But I don't think a length difference of 1/8th inch in the cable is a real issue. That clip only applies to Huck brakes, and that is why Jim Carter has it listed as a note. I wish I had taken pictures when I replaced the rear shoes in my truck. I did not. There is a procedure in the Shop Manual for adjusting the Lever to the cable. http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/shop/1947truck/47ctsm0510.htmThis will take out a lot of the difference in cable length if not all of it. Now, if you have the drive shaft brake system then none of the above applies.

That should easily be taken up through the adjustment. The procedure in the manual looks pretty straight forward. I may have to lean on your experience when I re-assemble the parking brake as most of mine is missing; however, I have located parts!
I don't have the drive shaft brake system, so all of this is applicable and appreciated.

I ordered a couple of parking brake cables as they were for 47-54 Chevrolet pick-ups. The overall cable length is 41" and the housing length measures 29". I put one in place to check the fit. The overall length is fine; however, the cable housing is too short by 3". When compared to what I removed from the truck the cable housing is clearly way too short. I can secure the cable to the backing plate and the other end does not come close to where it should install on the frame rail. I've contacted several vendors and all of their cables measure roughly the same, 41" and 29". The cable housings that I removed are rusted, damaged, and likely not rebuildable, if that's even an option?

If you followed this thread, you know that the '47 cables that BDammers47 and I needed are a bit different than the cables offered by the vendors. While the overall length of the standard steel cables is comparable, the cable housing length is about 2 1/2" shorter than required. I had Madison Power Systems make the parking brake cables that I needed to complete the job. The cable housings have sealed ends to keep moisture out and the steel cables are coated to slow down the corrosion problem that ultimately cause these cables to rust and lock-up. The cables were $69.95 each, plus shipping. I've got these cables installed and the parking brake working like new! My special thanks to BDammers47 for his support on my quest for parking brake cables. The information that he provided proved to be invaluable to my solution.
