I need 125" wb so that would be a ext cab s10. But just wondering if the front clip will still work from a standard cab long bed? | | | | Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 1,596 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 1,596 | I would do the whole frame of an extended cab S-10. The front clip is the same for all S-10's, so it would work but I prefer the entire frame swap. | | | | Joined: Oct 2014 Posts: 34 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2014 Posts: 34 | What did you do to make up for the lenggh difference? | | | | Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 1,596 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 1,596 | | | | | Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 886 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 886 | I'm thinking the extended cab S-10 is around the 125...125 1/4 " range. No one would know the difference in a 1/4". I considered doing that years ago. I think mine was within 2" and it worked out fine. | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 145 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: May 2005 Posts: 145 | The parallel frame rails of the S10 make it a great candidate for lengthening. I don't recall my exact measurements, but there's a standard C-channel hat fits inside the S10 frame really well. I had to add 17-1/2 inches to my S10 longbed frame and it was the easiest part of my project. See page: http://www.unkamike.com/truck/p2page4.htmThe c-channel fit so snugly inside the frame rail, that I was able to slide things like a big car antenna to lengthen and shorten it until the tires were centered in the wheel wells where I wanted them. At that point, I put some small machine screws in each side to hold it square until it could be welded. But just wondering if the front clip will still work from a standard cab long bed? all 82-03 2wd s10 have the same front frame section, including blazer 2wd. there is a factory splice after the transmission crossmember (roughly under the where the doors are) and that is where the length difference for short bed, long bed, and ext cab is found. even on blazers with their reinforced and narrowed rear rails, the front clip is exactly the same. front bumper mounts change with the years but you will be cutting all that off anyway. the brakes have some very minor differences over the years, dealing with fasteners on the early type and 2wd blazers have different spindles and brakes. source: I have an 84 longbed, a 98 shortbed, and a 99 blazer in my driveway | | |
