Current sealed head lamps are just plain bad. Would like to put something better in but I don't want to add any wiring (as I'm told is needed for HID lamps). Any recommendations on headlamps? I have high and low beams and only one headlight per side. (Not duals) I'm getting ready to install a new wiring harness with new switches as well.

Thanks in advance.

You think you got it bad. My ride has 15 candlepower headlights. You can hardly read a newspaper at night six inches from them.
Seriously, it all about watts. P(watts)= I(amps) X E(voltage). Your voltage is constant, so the only thing you can change is amps to get more watts(brighter lights). Have you thought about a relay. The run of the mill relay costs less than five bucks. It's good for 30 amps. A few feet of heavy wire #10 inside the engine deck with the feed wire from your light switch to energize the relay and you got it. Good luck.

I run halogen sealed beams on my '54 and my '56 without relays. They are noticeably brighter than standard sealed beams.

I've been using the Silverstar bulbs from Sylvania, they give a cleaner light output over a standard halogen. either will work fine without having to rewire the headlamps. Your truck will take a 6024 bulb.
