I have a factory turnsignal '59 apache I am working on. I pulled my column apart to clean out my turn signal housing. I clipped off the end of the harness with the multiplug since I knew I was going to have to rewire it due to some wires being pinched. Now I see I can purchase a new plug through classicparts.com but it appears I have to buy the complete turn signal switch unit. I don't need the switch, just the female half of that plug to replace the one I cut off. Can anyone point me in the direction of a place I can buy just that plug? I'm afraid to replace the whole switch since there are so many small parts to take out of the housing to get to it, plus it looks like it has some kind of rivets or welds holding it all together. Any ideas?

I did the same thing - cut off the connector not thinking about the implications down the road. I'm Scottish, so rather than buy a new turn signal unit I used barrel connectors to attach the wires from the new harness (cut its connector off) to the ends of what I'd previously cut, matching color for color. I staggered the barrel connectors so they wouldn't be a fat knot in the middle of the run, but there was no way to get any of that down through the upper end of the steering column. So I wrapped it tightly in black vinyl electrical tape and zip tied it to the underside of the column.
Everybody has a cost/value threshold and that solution fit mine.
YMMV

Hi Mr G,

If you have an original d2-53 style this might help taking it down to clean it up. To replace the electrical part is two screws (you need to fashion a wire puller to get the new wires in). IMHO it was very easy to do:

American auto wire and summit sell 6 port housings and terminals.
