Well, I learned a whole lot of things on that video: the difference in left and right cut snips, how to keep the 'land' flat on the material, what the gauge rating means, and just how they're supposed to be used in general. I'd say I've used their snips for 20 years- Wiss ought to put that video in the package with them.

The relief-cutting trick for cutting farther into a sheet (and having the waste curl up perfect) is definitely a tip that would've been useful in this fender patching journey.

The video link should go in the tool chest forum- good stuff.

Thanks
Brad

Well gents, this has been quite an educational thread for me... here's two 55.2 rear fenders; patch panels made, welded in, & ready to get epoxy primed. I still need to give the second fender some more hammer-love, but it lines up & is solid metal.

Thanks to all for the help & motivation. Robert, I owe you a cherry Coca-Cola whenever I see you. Or, some of our fine south-Alabama clear beverage in a Mason jar...whichever you prefer (to stay on topic it can also be used as a wipe-down cleaning solvent). wink

And... here they are epoxy-primed .

I still have to make up my mind on what color they're going to end up, but that's over in the Greasy Spoon.
