Hello,

I am trying to install the front lever action shock mounts to the front axle on a 1949 chevy 3100 and am running into an issue. The Mount will not seat on the bottom of the axle due to a boss. The assembly manual shows the later tube shocks. In the shop manual is says install "shock absorber anchor plate spacer and anchor plate". Does anyone know what the shock absorber anchor plate spacer looks like?

There are some good images in this thread but it does not look like there is any type of spacer on that truck.

Unfortunately the truck I bought was butchered when I got it and the shock and axle components were missing.

Any help is appreciated on what I am missing here.

I had the same problem with my 1949 3100. The mounts for the front are a flat plate with a protrusion for the shock link eye and bushing to mount the shock link. Don't have a photo of these on hand just now as my truck is in a garage a ways from the house. I found my by placing an ad in the "Truck Parts Wanted Section" of the forum and got GREAT response. Had a member send me the complete shock and mounting assembly for each side and all I had to pay was the shipping. You might give that a try. By the way, there is no spacer between the mount and the spring perch.

Originally there was a thick washer on each leg of the front U bolt, between the bottom of the axle and the mount, to space the mount down low enough to clear the raised forging between the two legs of the U bolt.
