My tanks original and past its prime. Rusting away. It's the oddball type with the filler under the passenger seat. While I don't like the location, I want to keep the truck original as possible. With that being said, I can't find an aftermarket replacement anywhere specifically for the '37. Can any of you point me in the right direction to a company or website?

I will watch this thread as I have the same problem. Just purchased a '37 from a fellow bolter and the gas tank was replaced and moved under the bed a long time ago.

If someone knows of a modern reproduction let us know.

Since you have the original tank you have one option. Look into "Gas Tank Renu" as their website says they have affiliated shops in Canada. I used them for my '47 Diamond T over 10 years ago and am happy. They cut holes in the tank to sand blast the interior, allowing them to visualize the inside, even if there are baffles. The inside and outside are coated with some sort of plastic material and then baked in an oven, after the holes are braised closed with plugs. I recall they said they could even repair a tank that was swiss cheese with rust holes. It is pricey (cost me over $300 ten years ago) but if there is no alternative it is worth it.
Since I have no tank to start with, can anyone answer John C's question?

John, I have never seen a repop for the 37 gas tank. I redid the inside of mine using a POR-15 kit about 16 years ago and it has held up very well. It took my nephew and I most all evening following the steps but it has been worth it. Try finding even a gas cap for one...which I got lucky not long ago and a bolter helped me out.

AFTER all these years I THINK I have a small pin hole somewhere but not sure. It could be the shut off petcock I put under the tank but not sure. Since some surgery I just haven't felt like looking. It only drips a very small amount even when it sits a long time... but its not right.

I would gladly move the tank which would give me some storage area, but not sure what I could put under the rear. I know its done but most I've seen hang to low and make the truck look like its got hemmroids which I don't like. That's the only reason I still have it in the cab or I'd gladly fix you up. Can't be much of a fix for whatever is wrong with mine.(hopefully the petcock)

Hi, Alvin. Nice trucks. That tank under the seat kinds freaked me out when I saw there was no filler line. I will leave mine where it is, but I can sympathize with wanting to move that puppy.

Thanks for the input. It seems a new reproduction isn't going to happen. I'll have to look at refurb options..... There is a bill from the previous owner stating the tank was cleaned out. And it's obvious it was cut open at some point, but there is definitely rust in there now. It was actually causing it to stall out on hills as the tank outlet was almost blocked. I ripped it all apart today from tank to carb and cleaned it up. Tanks flowing like a race horse again, but that won't last. I've installed a new inline filter just outside the tank to keep the crap out of the pump and carb. I'll post again if/when I find anything on a tank repair.

I have taken tanks to a radiator repair shop for inspection and cleaning. The one I used has been in business for 30 plus years. He used a tank sealer on the last one and claimed he's never had a problem and guarantees his work. Maybe worth a try to find a similar repair shop near you?

On my 46 I also took it to my local radiator shop. They cut the tank in three places on the bottom bead blasted the interior weldedit closed and then coated the interior. No problems. I think it was 280.00.
