My truck is a 48 FC253 1 ton. I searched this to the best of my ability on this site without getting my question answered. Plenty of stuff on others for Chevys. I know there are small differences between GMC and Chevy and Jim Carter is the only one I've found so far that lists them specific even though priced the same. So the main questions are is it a quality product and are the instructions any good. I am a little intimidated on taking this on so will need good instructions. Thanks | | | | Joined: Aug 2009 Posts: 311 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2009 Posts: 311 | For my '48 Loadmaster 1.5ton I went with the "original' cloth style wiring harness w/turn signals from Jim Carter. I knew somethings would probably be different as they don't list a harness for my application. The main differences are; most of the '48 fuses are omitted (no more head light fuses) The fuel sending unit wire is too short. No courtesy light wire, or steering column horn wire Other then that it looks and works great for me. It is $500 as opposed to $750 & $950 I was quoted from some of the popular "wire harness" vendors here. I think the quality is great, the instructions were ok. I laid the new wires out and studied them with the instructions before removing the old harness. I think the removal/install/trouble shooting probably took me 6-8 hours all together, I broke it up in to three or four sessions. | | |
