I believe the new unit is from a 40 chevy. The catalogs show 2 different part #s for the 39 and 40 grills. Is there any obvious ways to tell the 39 from a 40? Do they mount differently? Need to know which grill to order. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 1,096 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 1,096 | go to the gallery and look at the 39 then 40 trucks , you will see that the 40 has a deeper top bar , hense one less grill bars. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 232 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 232 | Thanks Dusty, looks like Ill go with the 40 grill, In looking at all the parts I think with a little metal work I can get the 40 grill and 39 GMC top moulding to work. May not be "correct" but nothing on my truck is. LOL. The deaper top bar of my 39 should work OK with the 40 chev grill.
Ive been trying to locate a good GMC grill or a 40 chev top moulding but they are tough items to find. And the GMC grill might not mount correctly in the chev nose peice. If you do find them they are a fortune. | | |
