The passenger door on my buick will not open anymore! :mad: It is a 1955 56R (2 door Riviera Super). Doesn't open from inside or outside and I don't see anyway short of destroying the inside upholstry panel to get at the inside of the door to look around. You have any magic bullets that will help me out? anyone?

Door won't open? Thats a drop top car right? You don't need no stinkin doors,just jump right in.
Ok ,did you try the key?Yeah thats dumb but... Make a "slim jim", a piece of thin guage sheet metal, a foot long ,1-1/2 inches wide. cut some notches near one end and go fishing between the outer side of the door glass and the door skin. Maybe you can hook a rod or linkage and pop the lock open. Before hand, using a penlight , peek into the slot the window retracts into, you might be able to see something.

Have you tried coat hanger wire down the side of the window? Call Pop-A-Lock? call the local cops? A clip holds door handle and window cranks on you push inner door panel in and it slides to side kind of a C shape. Screw the arm rest off and metal top and the door panel is held on with clips that will pop off with screw driver, at least that is how my 56 46R is and yours should be the same. Tony 56R is Super 2 dr ht 46R is Special 2dr ht rag top would have a C instead of the R. Ken before you go to all the disassembly try holding the door button in and push door in then pull out my 65 GMC has door adjusted to tight and I have to do this on passenger door some times one day I'll get off my lazy &$$ and adjust it.LOL

Boy, the Buick people come out of the woodwork in the most unlikely of places. Judd has what you need, I have only worked on that vintage a few times and don't remember a thing.

Thanks Judd . . . I'll see about working the mechanism through the window slot. With the door closed, the clearance is so tight around the edges that I doubt I will be able to get the inside panel off. Will have to take the seat out first. The door latch was adjusted too loose before (or maybe too tight and couldn't go the second click) whatever the problem, one too many slams and it never opened again. I fear I broke something. Must not be as tough as my old chevy trucks!
