Searched Napa, AutoZone, and Kragen. Found white, black, flat silver, flat aluminum, red, and blue. But no cast iron, no dark silver.
Any pointers who locally might carry this normally? I know POR-15 makes a brush on version, but for this project I don't care to wait a week or spend more thant $6. Many thanks!

MotherTrucker called it boby color. My wife says it is called "rust" or "gunky rust" but what does she know about old trucks  Go with the word from MT and look for boby color, that should set you straight. | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | boyo, Have you checked Eastwood Company? They have a paint for cast gray (I have not used it yet but will do so next Spring - my trucks are hibernating now - you need to cure the paint by running the engine). Search for "factory gray" at the following link: http://www.eastwoodco.com/cgi-bin/sgdynamo.exe?HTNAME=default2.htm Tim | | | | Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 57 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 57 | Hey Boyo, I used the pot 15 high temp cast iron paint and am real happy with it. It went on real easy and looks great. I sand blasted the exaust manifoles and then painted 2-3 coats on them. http://www.por15.com/hightempcoatings.html And one more thing. Check with your local Body shop supplier, they might carry POR 15 products. Thay way you do not have to wait for it. Most of our local Body shop suppliers carry this stuff. Good luck, Check it out! The POR-14 stuff is $14/pt + shipping.
The Eastwood stuff is $20/pt + shipping.
Just wondering if you'd seen a rattle can locally, and for like $6 or so. Thanks anyway,

You need to go to one of their main stores and hunt around a bit. The regular stores can get it for you within a couple of days - talk to someone in the store with a brain though. You can also go to stores that stock a good supply of spray can paint and usually find it. I've even seen it in Walmart. Talk to local paint stores, they can tell you who has a good/diverse supply of spray can paint. | | | | Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 57 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 57 | Boyo--------If it's cheap it don't work!!!!!! After driving the truck about 1500 miles over the summer and fall, the manifolds have a few rusty spots. I am going to re-finish them again but will not use the Eastwood paint.
If anyone has any suggestions as to a different coating , let me know. Thanks

Glad to see you're so willing to spend my money for me... This ain't no trailer queen, if you want something to last it's going to cost $100 and up to ceramic coat them or something. But that $100 is almost more than I paid for the whole truck! -Boyo [ 12-07-2001: Message edited by: boyoconnor ]

Too bad I painted my manifold with the high dollar POR paint. One thing about the stove black, it will turn anything it touches black. We use it on our caboose stoves, works great.
