so my 46 chevy is pretty mixmatched, has a 68+ inline 6 250 in it with a auto trans belhousing which is half connected to the original 3 speed trans... yeah half connected fun.
Anyway motor has been running rough so gonna pull it and give it a once over, probably re -ring it new gaskets etc etc
I have a TH350 sitting around from another project and was tryin to look around for a trans crossmember that I dont have to make so that I can bolt this TH350 up to my 250.

I also have an 80s s10 rear axle left from another project I can use but not sure on the track as I want to keep my 6 lug wheels and would have to adapt it.
But one thing at a time lol first I need find a crossmember.
I seem to be able to only find th350 crossmembers for 47+ trucks.
A shove in the right direction would be very helpful!

It's kind of scary what some people put together. What you have is a passenger car stick shift bellhousing of the same era as the engine with the original trans. It's not an auto trans bellhousing. The mounting holes are in a different location on the early vs late so they just made do. There are number of members here with early trucks with your combo or V-8's that should be able to assist you. It's going to take some work but will be worth it in the long run.

i guess what threw me off as I dont know these belhousings is the starter, had to replace it last saturday as it exploded (yeah....) and only info I had on the motor was casting numbers def 68 and up 4.1l I6, and out of the two starters they had for vehicles for thay year the starter I pulled out was for the auto trans...however givin the rest of the hack job I am not really surprised LOL

So, the doner TH350 I have is still bolted to a motor (79 camaro w/350 and TH350 front clip I welded onto my 49 chevy styline frame) motor is no good, but trans is solid (however its been sitting so Ill give it a once over)
Wonder if that bellhousing will bolt up to my 250 I6? Would save me some trouble for sure lol

yes it will, anything v8 or 6 cyl after 1963 have the same pattern for the transmission. I think the newer LS engines may be different.

I don't know what your frame looks like ( if it's boxed or open),If it's open you could use just about any crossmember that would fit. An example; an 80/early90 crown vic is tubular and you cut to fit, smash the ends flat and drill a mounting hole.

As for the rear end you have to measure from the wheel mounting flange to the other side mounting flange. That is the width you need. Sometimes you can go a little wider or a little short, just have to measure what you vehicle has room for.
Some of the s10 blazers had 6 bolt rears you may check for one of those.

Ended up with a rear axle out of an isuzu rodeo, its within an inch of my stock WMS to WMS and has the same 6 lug bolt pattern that I already have. The diff is a dana 44 that I am putting a new gear set in as I dont want the 4.3:1 ratio that is stock on the rodeos.
sold the Th350 and still poking around for a repower... leaning toward a vortec 4200 I6 from a 05 trailblazer, but stil driving the truck as it is lol
its my daily and i am just collecting parts and planning at this stage.
Thanks for the help everyone.

Be sure you get the whole computer package with that vortec- - - -electric in-tank fuel pump, computer, wiring harness, all the sensors, etc. My wife's Buick Rainier runs a 4200, and it's a good engine, but swapping it into a stovebolt would be a real adventure!

I agree with Jerry. I helped my neighbor replace the 4200 in his Trailblaser and that was a nightmare. Couldn't imagine putting one in a Bolt. Just put a turbo on the 250 if you want power. Been done many times. Check utube.
