Has anyone used the aftermarget engine and tranny crossmembers? I'm streetrodding my 53 five window and I have the engine and tranny in but just not sure if its right. Got pictures if you need to see to help me. It seems I had to set engine all the way down in frame and it's forward as far as it can go because the tranny cross is hitting the brake booster and the top of tranny is a hair from hitting firewall. I'm also going to have to hammer the firewall a little to make a little room for distributor. I used dropped axle and lowering springs in front and lowering springs in rear and blocks also. The way it is setting the engine is not leaning back infact maybe a degree or to forward. I've been told that's ok though because it's setting like that because of the suspention not how it's setting in the frame. It just seems to be setting too low in the frame. Any help you can call 724-433-9015 or text me at that number. Thanks Termite!

The engine angle is not a big deal. What you do need is to end up with your pinion center line from 1-2 degrees down from your crankshaft center line. Remember cars run in San Francisco or the mountains just fine with the engines way off of horizontal. Do a search on "pinion angle" and you will get a wealth of info.

Termite, dropped a small block in my 52 panel using the mounts that go in the chassis and using the instructions that came with it. I can get my hand behind the BIG distributor and the firewall.
...and yes, the booster "hit" the rear tranny cross member so I cut some of it out. It didn't hurt and the cross member I used actually had "flat bar" inside it. I still welded a truss to enforce it though.
This is all shown in the photobucket pictures linked below in my signature line. It may not help since your using the front cross member but the measurement sheet may help with positioning the motor so you don't have to cut the firewall.

....the top of my tranny also hit the toeboard. I did use the tin snips to cut about 3/8" out right where it was hitting but when the tranny cover went in place you can't see where I trimmed it. Its close and tight but it'll work.

Hope something in all this helps you out.

Ya I was checking your pictures out and now that's why I'm question ing what I am doing. But setting here looking now the engine is on a reward slant its the intake the way its made its a little higher in back. I sorta understand the degree angle thing. So the way truck set check degree at back of tranny and make yoke at rear end 2 degree opposite. Does this with frame level or the way truck is going g to set? Thanks for help.

OK angle on engine checked at valve cover is 1 degree back and at intake plane 1 degree forward. Should be ok? Didn't check rear if tranny or axle yet. Was working on exhaust. Made my own with help of brother and pipe bender.
