I have a hopefully simple question on installing emergency brake lever on the rear of my 57. I continue to work on the frame up resto and am now assembling the rear brakes.
I am inside the drum and ready to install shoes. Where the emergency brake lever attaches to the secondary shoe, there is a large flat headed bolt, spring washer, brake shoe, then star washer and nut.
My question is the proper location of the spring washer. (1) Between head of bolt and lever? or (2) between lever and brake shoe? My guess is number (2) but that is only a guess. It's been 23 years since I put those parts in a can & I'm lucky to find them, but cannot remember correct locations of all those parts.
Usually find what I need in FAM or Shop Manual but cannot find enough info or pics to answer the question.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hy delky, if I'm remembering correctly it goes between the lever and brake shoe, hope that helps.

I believe so too, but it probably would not make any difference.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

delky, I agree with 3B and Wrenchbender Ret. That's way I installed my emergency lever setup last Saturday
on my 55 rear axle on my Good Humor truck.

Thanks to all
I put it back together as per my hunch and per your recommendations. It will be awhile before it is on the road, but install seems to work fine.
Thanks again
