I need to buy a replacement rear window rubber gasket. The truck is a 41 chevy and has a small rear window. When I go to the usually online parts sources it appears there was a change 41 vs. 42 seals. The 41 says die cast mold..., the 42 says lock bead. What is the difference? Will either one work. My truck came off the assembly line Oct.41. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,214 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,214 | Jim, What holds your rear window in? Does it have a garnish molding on the inside or not? Die Cast Mold is a one piece molded rubber seal. The Lock Bead is a two piece seal, the main rubber seal is locked in place with a 1/4" round rubber bead. The bead is installed with a special tool that looks like a screw driver with a teardrop shaped hole in the tip. You put the lock bead rubber through the hole in the tool and insert the tip with the lock bead tool in the channel in the main seal, as you push forward it spreads the channel open and lays the lock bead in place.
