Hoping someone can help me out , I Have the stock enclosed diveshaft and rearend in my truck and need to change the spider gears and side gear, does anyone know if the Canadian trucks ( 1300) and the USA trucks (3100 ) have the same size spider gears and side gear ? or how many splines are on the end of the US model axle, I know the carriers are different because you can not use the patrics ring and pinion set on Can truck because of ther different carrier, thanks guys and this site is awesome and a real help with my frameup restoration . Mike

Hy Mike King, welcome, I was not aware of a difference in the differential carriers between Canadian and American trucks of that vintage. That being said I know someone over here on the mainland that may be able to help you with the parts you're looking for, hope that helps.

Those parts are really hard to find because they are not reproduced. If you get them, keep them some place safe!

I installed Patricks ring and pinion in a Canadian rear end which did require minor modification. The ring gear bolt circle on a Canadian carrier is 6.188" and the bolt circle on U.S. carriers (and Patricks ring gear)is 6.062". Elongating the holes (on your Canadian carrier) 1/16" towards center will make it fit which I did with a 3/8" endmill. The washer spotface is large enough that it requires no modification. Here's some pictures. I remember that my spiders had a brass/bronze? washer behind them that I saw no mention of in U.S. literature so I suspect these are unique to Canadian rears. Good luck.

The bronze "washer" is a spacer only used if required.

On my Canadian 38 Master, those gears have the brass washers. I have a set of NOS gears and they measure out the same without the washers as my originals with the washers.

Maybe all CDN rears used them then.
