Does anybody know a decent replacement seat that fits a 65 cab without having to make a lot of custom brackets?
While Im asking is there a good way of mounting seat belts in one of these trucks? I was thinking about maybe welding to some some thin plates with nuts on them to bottem side of floor to distribute the load,sound doable?

I havn't actually had a 60-66 truck and done this, but I have seen seats installed from a 73-87 pickup in those style trucks before with minimal changes

Well I was just out eyeballing the 65,I think my best bet for mounting 3 point belt will be to cut a piece on the outside of cab a little bigger than the plate/gusset for top mounting point so it can be installed,then welding that piece back in.I need to put cab corners and repair the roof above windshield anyway so a little more metal work isn't a big deal.

My 1965 C10 had a recovered 1990 Chevy Truck Bench Seat installed by one of the previous owners when I purchased the truck. The seat fit like it was made for it.

Therefore it stands to reason that any Chevy truck bench seat from 1960 to 1998 will fit.

The one in my truck had been simply bolted through the floor and used large oversize washers under the floor.

I still have the seat and some 15x8 truck ralley's that match the recovered seat too.

If your original seat is in decent shape it may be better to just have it recovered and then you know it will fit without any modifications. That is what I did.
As for seat belts: I installed 3 point versions (with a center lap belt) from Seat Belt Planet.

You can use the existing attach points on the floor for most of belts attach points. Due to my repairs of the floor plan I had to drill the outside attach holes for the 3 point harnesses (2 each side).
If you purchase the hardware from Seat Belt Planet you will get everything you need to make the install.
I will have to take some pics and post them later.

My truck spent its career at an old ccop grain elevator along Nebraska/Kansas,I don't know if its possible to get that dead mouse smell out of that old dead seat.
How did you mount the top of the belt in top corner/door post area?
Theres no signs of my truck ever having had belts in it.

If you have your seats recovered all the old material will be replaced so ... no odor.

Even without seat belts I think the 1965 should still have the nuts welded to the floors so lap belts could have been installed as an accessory.
I don't know if I still have my measurements but for the top attach points I just drilled a hole with a taper bit (1/2 inch I think) and then used the backing plate that comes with one of the hardware kits. I was ready to use a wrench on it but it tightened down just fine without a wrench.

Awesome post, at a great time for me too. I've been driving the bejesus out of my 65 and having insane lower back pain. The bench seat in my truck is killing my back because the frame of my seat is wearing through the padding and fabric. Just cruised 60 miles round trip for some ice cream.

My 64 had 3 point belts that were bolted to the roll bar around the in cab gas tank. The belts/seat was from an 90's astro van I think.
