For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 11 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 11 | I got a buddy that wants me to build up a stock deluxe heater for his 1955 - 57 GMC truck. He said to make sure and NOT use the Chevrolet heater core, as the inlet and outlet tubes are not the same as the GMC trucks. In parting out a dozen plus of these trucks (both brands) I've never noticed this difference before. So which one of us needs new glasses. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | firstly, he needs to realize that the GMC core he's judging by is likely a replacement, I would expect most 5-7 cores have been replaced by now .... for the deluxe version heater I would really doubt there was any differences at all between Chev and GMC, they were both made by Harrison .... but there is a tube size difference between truck and car heaters, I suppose it's marginally possible the car core was used on GMCs

I've been working on these trucks since I first drove a 1955 back in 1967 and have never professed to be an expert. So I get leery when working on projects like this and am referred to people who ARE experts. | | |
