I just picked up one of each, a W-1 483s or 574s and a YF 964s The W-1 looks great but probably needs rebuilt, which is fine, I like to rebuild carburetors. The YF has been professionally rebuilt and looks beautiful but I don't know the rebuilder. So, taking their current non rebuilt/rebuilt condition out of the equation, is there an arguable benefit to running one over the other? This is a daily driver 216 with a T-5 and sees lots of in town and highway use.

You did not specify, so will assume engine is stock:

The YF is slightly more efficient than the W-1; and since your vehicle is a daily driver, you should not have the exceeding amount of difficulty one can experience with diaphragm pumps on ethanol fuel and collector vehicles which are selectively driven.

If the engine has been modified, the W-1 is easier to modify than the YF.

The W-1 uses a leather accelerator pump, so totally impervious to ethanol-laced fuel.

Jon.

Good carburetion is fuelish hot air
The most expensive carburetor is the wrong one you attempt to modify.

Thanks Jon! The engine is stock, as far as I know. I would like to rebuild both carbs but will likely run the YF
