I just bought my first '51 Chevy in 30 years, and I'm hear to listen and learn. Got my first one when I was in my early 20's, and now I've just found a rat rod in fine shape, and couldn't be happier. I'm a retired Ironworker. I've got 2 square body 3500's that I now have to get rid of, if anybody want one. Wife says "Get 'em outta here!" Anyway, really looking forward to this truck and this forum. I'm going to Decatur IL to pick it up in a day or two. I live in Park Hills, MO (used to be Flat River), and also ride an '03 Indian Chief bike. Thanks for having me!

Welcome to the site! you will find a wealth of info and fun checking in here.
I'll also be headed thru St. Louis Saturday to drop off a 56 GMC grain truck to a new young owner.

I have also been off roading in the Flat River/Leadwood area since the mid seventies (bikes, jeeps and ATV's). Way before the state got the land.
Have not been there in a few years now though.

Welcome to the Stovebolt, Butch. The AD style pickup you have bought is a popular one and there are many many parts available, and parts that interchange on the AD style trucks.
You'll find quite a few bolters around your area so watch for them. You all may have to have a "gathering" or as we call it around here a "GabFest".
Good luck, post questions in the forums and you'll get answers. Good luck...and a picture when you can post up a link to them.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile

Thanks, everyone! Got the beast home last Friday, and though I'm waiting for the lost title to arrive, I dismantled the heater last night to get it back to working order. Luke and 2ton, I live about 5 mintues from what is now St. Joe State Park, in the old Elvins section of Park Hills. I run the trail over there every other day, and see the guys hauling their bikes, trucks and ATV's in to ride everyday on Hwy 32. What a great place to have close! I just posted a question about my heater in electrical (hope that's the right place), since it's gotten down in the teens so quickly here. Thanks for the welcome. Can't wait to pick your brains on my new ride.

Glad you got your new truck home safely.
Haven't been back to the park lately and have heard it was still being changed with top soil and grass planted to keep the dust down.
Still have the 79 CR250 I bought new.
I also remember all the old power line trails we would get lost on a cloudy day.
That is way before the state got control.

I first started going there, riding a 1972 TM-400 Susuki.
Nickname the "Widow Maker".
It sure would tear up those chat hills.

Big Foot and another power wagon ran together in those days.
They would show up a few times to test new designs and motors.
I think they ran 40" tires then and were considered the baddest trucks around at that time.
Monsanto lake turned out to be a good place to meet gals on a hot sunny day also.
