OK. I'm stuck! I have been trying to remove the arms from the knearled end that goes into the cab for about 2 hours now. This is on a 51 3100. I think that all is original. There is a small spring wire loop that sticks out from under the arm cap. I have pulled one end out, but I can't remove the other end. Is this the lock? How do I take this apart? It can't be this hard. HELP!!

there should be a small clip which goes under the knurled knob. pull it back and arm should pull off. it sounds like you are messing with the spring that supplies pressure to the wiper against the winshield. the spring clip that holds the arm on is very small and just runs down along and under the knurled knob. I think -- I'm 270 miles from our truck and can't run down and look.

Thanks Unbroke. I've moved that thing every way that I can think of, but I'll try your way again. I guess there is some rust under the cap and that can't help.

Pulling the little spring back that goes under the knurled knob is the easy part. Then you have to get the knurles to let go. Just keep trying and pry gentle.

Thanks for the help. The clips were resting on the knurled end and not under the edge. I couldn't figure out what they did. With a little patience and some help from you, they were off in about 3 minutes. This was the last thing that I needed to remove from under the dash. My firewall is clean and I'm just about ready to remove the cab. The doors are next. Thanks for the help.

I remember that stage -- it was about 2 years ago, or was it 3? I'm just now getting it back together. It seems like almost nothing is easy, but it's still fun! Good luck! Isn't this board the greatest?
