1953 3100 stock The starter pedal comes through the floor too far and knocks the rubber boot off the floor pan. Cab is not to low or too far forward. Was a stop on the linkage or starter? I checked the starter bendix lever and it is not bent or worn. Thanks for advise or direction.

Try some grease on the shaft at the top of the boot and make sure the bottom of the boot is firmly fitted in the hole in the toe board.

Mike, if all is straight and nothing is loose then there is no
reason that it shouldn't stay in place. Been ten years on this
one and if I remember correctly, it fit in the toe board hole
rather snug. The rubber mat may help keep it in place also:

Yes, I didn't have one in my hand at the time of posting. Is there something at the top of the shaft that retains the top of the bellows? Sounds like the OP's is hanging up on something causing it to get pulled out of the toe board.

Does your rubber boot have the flange on it?

Have you tried threading in the pedal? I believe there is a jam nut

Funny as I just my new boot on this morning. There is a little flange around the bottom of the boot that has to go outside the toeboard, and its a very tight fit. Tight enough that it would take quite a bit of force to pull it out. The boot only goes about two-thirds of the way up the pedal rod, it doesn't go all the way upto the pedal itself.

It would save a whole bunch of wasted effort if models, modifications, source of replacement parts were included when asking for or dishing out information. And----a picture would really help, remember, "a picture is worth a thousand words."

Denny,
Your comment takes me back to a Post I made a while back. It is still true today. As good as PC's are they cannot tell us what vehicle a question is about!
