So the question now is "Where is the VIN number on this beast"?
Use a big enough catapult and even pigs can fly...remember nothing is impossible, impractical yes, but never impossible.
| | | | | Joined: Jul 2001 Posts: 3,887 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Jul 2001 Posts: 3,887 | vins are on tag on drivers door frame - only diff in 56 - 57 is hood and grill [57 1 year only for both], and its not uncommon to find a truck from back then titled as a year newer or older than they appear, as a lot of places called them the year they were first registered - my 57 panel was made in November 57 but by the time it got to the dealer in Vancouver BC and then to the logging co that ordered it, wound up being tagged as a 58
yours coulda been one of the first 57's, which woulda been sold in 56 - or whoever told ya don't know - can't imagine anyone purposely changin grill and hood both to 57

I went out and saw a huge amount of wrinkled paint..."there she blows". It is a 57, 3100 series made in St. Louis. Now if I can figure out what the truck has under the body and what the original color was suppose to be, I'll be a happy camper.

| | | | | Joined: Jul 2001 Posts: 3,887 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Jul 2001 Posts: 3,887 | Plum - a good place to find original color is under the air intake grill just in front of the windshield - usually doesn't get much paint in there on a repaint - also under the trim pieces [like fender spears and rear view mirrors] will be original if all it's had is a quicky cheap repaint
