I have in my possession a 4 speed and a new column that is for the 4 speed. I don't have a problem with the column or the transmission currently in my truck everything works as it should. Question I have is, is there any advantage to the extra gear versus the 3 speed an do you think it would be a good swap. It is not good for much unless you are pulling stumps or something like that. The other ratios are about the same as the 3 speed. The only advantage would be the direct floor shifter, but if your linkage is good the 3 speed is fine. It would hardly be worth the swap. If you put a car type 4 speed in it you would have the advantage of closer gear ratios. A 5 speed with o-drive would give you a good highway gear.

When I said about my steering column I meant I have a column for a floor shifting 4 speed it was minus the lever parts. If I were to do the conversion I was not going to half way do it I really like a clean look. Kinda like my philosophy if you do it right now, you won't have to make a excuse why it isn't right later. | | |
