I started to rub out and wax the Paint...did a 5 inch x 5 inch or so test area...came out pretty nice!( does that count? )

Complete front end rebuild on the Burb. Ball joints, bushings, tie rod ends and such. Full brake job including new calipers front and back. Some fabricating on the shift rod going down to the tranny to make it engage park as it should. Needs a front end alignment and that part is done.

Good weather for working on the truck today. Cool and dry. Got the bed bolted back on. Had bought a mounting kit (blocks) from Mar-K.

Maybe this weekend I'll get the rear fenders back on, and lay the old wood back in the bed. Then back on the road before it gets too late in the year. Can't wait to take my grandson for a ride again! Will first need to pick up a set of used tires to get me by for a while, but other than that, it's cruising time again!

Picked up the 93 camaro R&P yesterday. Bought new inner tie rods and tie rod ends. modified the inners by shortening them by 4& 1/8and rethreading them according to Scott Danforth's instructions. Installed new bushings all around in the lower control arms. Need to borrow or rent a spring compresser now to assemble the whole mess.

O'Reillys and Auto Zone loan spring compressors and lots of other tools with a deposit.

welded in a patch panel on the front of the drivers side fender... now to patch up the rear... then get in primer and do some body work!

Finished putting the rear fenders on. A few more odds and ends, and hopefully I'll be back on the road tomorrow.

Don, thanks for your generous offer on the spring compresser. I will try to find on locally first.

Front disc brake conversion is installed and operational,gearing up to pull body off frame in the next few weeks.

Installed the new full length front door panels on the "Burb" this afternoon. Easy job and it looks so much better.

Still a work in-process, but back on the road!

I rebuilt a carb for the yard dog.

Ive been working on my windows for the past couple of days.Had to rebuild both pivot bolts.

Removed and heated and corrected some old bend and distortion in one of the column Shift Linkage Rods, so it will fit better there on the Trans Lever end. Someone had bent the flat end and the Pin, sometime long ago, and I decided to pull it off and correct it today.

After 3 full years, I finally moved my 1965 C10 SWB SS into my garage. I got a lot done outside during these 3 years, but I hope my progress will speed up now.

I plan to have it moving under it's own power by spring.

Heading out to my dads to change all the fluids in the drive train. Engine, trans and rear and check driveshaft. Man, trans fluid is expensive. Silly hotrods.

I've been fluffing around with the front end on the '40. It's a "little" loose and the old girl wanders a bit when the camper is on board.
In my attempts to tighten up the steering I find the tie rod ends are a little loose. They were injected with some plastic product about 20yrs ago as a cheapo repair of the day. It has come to the end of its useful life and I want to put new tie rod ends in.

You KNOW it's not that easy eh.

All the USA sellers eg, Filling Station, Jim Carter etc etc list replacement ends , but they all have a female thread on the rod end and my truck , and the 3 others I have dismantled have tie rod ends with the male thread, 11/16" .
The '39 car has a male thread 9/16" . Not much help there. I've found a local shop that remanufactures the ball , but the price is outta this world .

Still working on finding a solution to this issue.

Spent some time on minor issues today. Re-glued some weather stripping that had come loose. Sealed a leaky windshield the PO had not installed properly. Goes to the alignment shop tomorrow morning.

On my 49Chev. 3800 I installed points and condensor which I haven't set them yet . After I recheck my new spark plugs I will see if it will start . If it does you might hear me "Yipeeeee" If it don't start I'll check to see If I turned the key on the on possition.

Back from alignment shop. Several small issues done by PO corrected and alignment completed. Drives straight now. Now I can move on to my list of items to finish before winter sets in.

I got a lot accomplished today. I have been trying to get the yard dog running after a year's sleep. I've been working on it for a couple of weeks. I think I finally got it. It now has clean fuel lines, a new fuel pump and a rebuilt carb. Cleaning the lines was one of the first things I did. So when the pump puked a glob of somethinorother into the carb inlet I didn't suspect clogged lines. I done cleaned them.

I had a noise coming from the belt area on my Suburban. I pulled the alternator and had it checked. I figured it had to be the water pump then. When I wiggled the fan blade I heard chirping sounds. I sent a pump to be rebuilt and got it back today.

But when I pulled the belt I found the real culprit. The harmonic balancer pulley was rattling. I pulled the radiator and changed it out with one from a 235. I always said Chevies make good parts trucks. I just got it all back together except antifreeze. I plan to pick up some fresh in the morning.

On the Good Humor Truck, I decided to switch the water pump location. Using Dave`s adapter plate and Jerry helping on getting the correct Harmonic Balancer installer tool. The fan is more centered with the new
USA radiator. I`m using the 3/8 pulley setup.

Thanks Jim, I`m getting there. the Discussion board has help me a lot. Even if some of the topics are 8 years ago, its like they were yesterday discussing the issue.Great people here.

Wood back in the bed and bolted down. Used the same wood that was in the truck when I bought it. Nothing fancy, but the truck's complete now. Winter project will be making some side rails for the bed, and possibly replacing the bed wood with something a little more attractive. I'd like to get the metal separator strips too.

Progress is progress. Way to go. Are you taking pictures along the way? Post up a couple if you do.

Finally stumbled upon an engine supply shop that had some tie rod ends !! in a box marked "NOS odds".

2nd and third ones I pulled were left and right hand tie rod ends I was looking for

Just fitted them , whoo hoo all's good.

Got my windows for the doors installed. Disapointed in the rebuild on the vent that I tried so put in the old ones for now. At least I can drive it now without worrying about rain getting into the truck.
I also got my new flat bed body painted and mounted. I really like the way it turned out.Larry

Filled up the gas tank while gas was cheap at $2.83, disconnected the fuel line at the fuel pump, ran the gas out of the carb. Getting ready to put her away for the winter (as I continue the body work... hopefully...

started it up after letting it sit for a month...the clutch plate was frozen to the flywheel and pressure plate. I couldn't shift into gear with it running. It would start in gear but I couldn't stop unless I took it out of gear.
I let the truck idle about 30 minutes, turned it off, put in 1st and started it. The shock broke it loose.
It ended up a good day!
