I have replaced the power steering pump three times as I only have power steering intermittently. It seems that the power steering works good when it is cold or on the highway. Not so good when the truck worms up and the RPM's are low. Could it be the steering box? Is the 79 Camero full power steering or is it just assist power steering? rephrase that to 'when the steering system/fluid gets hot and the pump's not turning very fast' and think about what might be happening .... who did the clip?
what engine?
how does the weight of the truck compare to the weight of a Camero?
is the pump for the 6cyl model Camaro or the V8?
does it have the proper size pulley?
