The radiator in my 1939 1/2 ton is not the original....big shock I know. It appears to be about 2 or 3 inches narrower than the original because the mounts have been extended that much. It has the side mounted cap location and the cap is plain by the way with no pressure spring,(just wondering about that too). I have seen ads for 2 row 1" tube on Ebay.
Questions: If mine is 2 inches thick is it a 2 row?
If it is more economically feasible to just repair the minor leak,(minor at this point), would this be enough volume/capacity for my soon upgrade from a 216ci to a 235ci?
I was wondering if I need to change that cap also.

pictures might help Troy ... a pressure cap only works on a rad with a neck to accommodate one, the older rads were no pressure, up to the late 40's ... look inside and you might be able see how many rows of tubes yours has, probably 2 ... by the time of 235s, a 4# pressure cap was being used, a pre-pressure rad might cool it OK, but the rad is just one part of the cooling system

A pressure cap does nothing to keep an engine running cooler.
It only raises the boiling point so in the case an engine does over heat it will be less likely to boil over.
