I have struck a deal on a couple of burbs a1950 chevy and 1952/3 gmc with clamshell rear. They both have both front seats. I also got buckets from a 1951 panel. They look rough but will make 1 good burb. | | | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,185 Moderator | Moderator Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,185 | Hi beanyard, welcome. Nice score! The chevy suburban turns out to be a 1949 and the gmc suburban was actually a 1953. Title work, soap and water, and pics are next on the agenda. | | | | Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 11 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 11 | Quick update. late last fall, I got the title for the GMC that turned out to be a 53. The other one by vin was verified as a 49. Today I started tearing into the 53. All in all it has less than average rust and dents ( except for the passenger side rear quarter panel. The 49 has cancerous rust everywhere except the ps rear quarter. Including the visor area where a rat built a nest.
Today on the 53 I got all the side windows out and all the doors off in preparation for the dent and rust repair. We got a lot done today. Next time I will be tearing into the 49 so that we can remove the needed parts including the rear quarter panel and the clamshells and get them ready to install on the 53. | | | | Joined: Nov 2012 Posts: 77 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Nov 2012 Posts: 77 | I just found this thread and I will be keeping track of your progress. Good luck, for sure! | | | | Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 11 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 11 | Today's progress: seats out of parts burb, check. Back clamshells off parts burb, check. Quarter panel window out of parts burb, check. Garbage and mice cleaned out, check. What's next? Pressure wash parts burb and get all windows out and all fenders off. I will then bring the fenders home to straighten them out in the evenings. Also, Does anyone know the best way to remove what I would call the threshold from the back of a burb. I am referring to the part above the panel with the hinge pockets.
