Regular RainX is not for inside windows. It will cause them to fog worse than without it.

As mentioned a few posts ago they have another for the inside glass. That way you have to buy 2 bottles from them.

Sorry Carl,I assumed yours was a '52 going by your handle.

Even dropping the door glass a 1/2" or so should help.
Like Cletis mentions, make sure you get the right Rain-X.

The main aim is to get a high air circulation/exchange in the cab.
Have your rear cab corners been replaced at some time and if so do they have the drain/vent slots?
Replacement corner panels do not have them and they were put there by Chevy for a reason.
"The cab that breathes"..remember? wink

Excessive fogging can be more often traced to water leaks though,as a glass guy i'm bordering on obsessive about them.
Getting your cab as watertight as possible will obviously help a bunch but having experienced the high humidity levels in Va. in the summer firsthand I can also see why it can get steamy in there!
A/C helps greatly in de-humidifying the air too.

When we get a frog drowner in the summertime around here, modern vehicles fog up real bad as well. The old truck, with the windshield right in your face, is especially problematic. I caught the deal about the two kinds of Rain-X. I was just too lazy to word my response as such. Thanks for the clarification in any case.

I remember most of the trucks I rode in as a kid having 1 or 2 of the electric fans mounted on the corner of the dash or the top of the door post.
Ran most of the time if you had a wet dog (or kid) in the cab and kept the windshields pretty clear. I recall the door windows were usually open a crack (maybe because of the dog but the kid probably didn't smell much better).

Hi, 1951 Chevy 1Ton, Last winter I installed a dual action fuel pump on my 49 1/2 ton. I am very happy with the results. Before I did the change, I drove up a hill close to my place at a steady 50 MPH and held the speed with the throttle and the wipers would stop . After the change the wipers would slow down a little up to 3/4 throttle,( about 65mph, Note I have the 3:55 gear set in the rear end) at full throttle they would stop. I did use 5/16 steel line from the manifold vacuum port to the pump and back to the 1/4 line that was hooked up to the manifold. In normal driving it works fine.IE driving from a stop and shifting they would not stop working, they did slow down a little.

How about hooking one of these up to vacuum wipers?

Now that, is the first really good idea that's come across these
pages short of spending $150 and changing out the vacuum motor
for an electric one. Good thinking mother Webber's favorite son.
It could be hidden up under the dash where it wouldn't show. Do
ya suppose those could be found in a junk yard??? And, I wonder
how much current one of those would draw and if a 6v to 12v
booster could power one.

As an added note, my experience with the dual fuel/vacuum pump
is that it made very little difference and wasn't worth all the
extra cost and plumbing.

Hey Brian, your probably much to young to remember this
but thought you might enjoy it, I get all choked up
when ever I hear it:

Here's one that's a little cheaper.

Denny don't remember the song, but I do remember Kate Smith, so I'm kinda old.

Speaking of cheaper, how bout this one?

So cheap, I had my "big old wife" throw in a book to get free
shipping on it. We'll see how it works out. Discription says
it will pump 16 in.hg. at 12watt. My power cube says it will
supply 6A so it shouldn't have a problem handling 1 amp.

What is the volumetric flow rate for these vacuum pumps? Dorman specifications says they are only for HVAC ,4WD hubs, and speed control, all much lower flow than wipers.

Well the curiosity got the best of me, so I done spent the
twenty bucks on one of those there pumps, just to experiment
with. Don't think it's gonna pump enough air to keep a Trico
vacuum motor goin' but when I get a chance I'll hook it up to
my gauges and give it a try. Probably won't get a chance to
try it on a vacuum motor till this winter when I get down to
doin' my bench work.
