I am looking for the line from the oil pump to the block of a 1960 235. It is a tube 7/16 inch O.D. with compression fittings. This is a junk yard item, huh.
Ya suppose substitutes like 1/2 inch copper might work?

You might try a pick & pull, but it might be easier to fab one. Not sure the addition of 1/16" inch would make a difference but than you have to adapt any fittings to the pump and block.

7/16" OD tubing is about as scarce as a chicken with lips. Just upsize to 1/2" compression- - - -1/4" NPT fittings and use a piece of 1/2" OD steel fuel line and a tubing bender to fabricate a line. The extra 1/16" of diameter won't hurt a thing.

Fuel line sounds right, plus the compression fitting. I think half inch copper pipe is too stiff to bend, so 'soft' copper should do also, it could be too soft and then get brittle? I am over thinking it. Fuel line and a flare tool might be better than a compression fitting. http://microgroupstore.com/ is a tube site I found. Thanks..

There's not enough pressure there to need a flare fitting, and steel line needs to be double-flared or it splits. Your local big box hardware store like Lowe's or Home Depot will have the compression to pipe fittings, and any auto parts store will stock several lengths of steel line. Don't overthink this.

So over the weekend and monday, and tuesday, going to all the box stores, serfing the internet, I came up only the compression fitting. So I got a tip that Tuckers, is getting into engines a little, so I walked in there. The part was availible...in a old core that was scheduled to go to the salvage yard in like 2 hours. So I bought it for a C note. Gads it has so much stuff on it that is both good, really hard to find and I am pretty excited. I popped off the part a half hour ago.
So the next thing is to remove that oil pump brace that is held on with what appears to be rivets.

Glad I'm not in Vegas! People give me 216's/235's to get them out of their way! I think I've acquired 5 or 6 of them as freebies! A neighbor about a mile down the road is waiting for me to pick up an early 60's 235, and there's an early 50's GMC pickup rolling chassis just over the hill that I'm negotiating for with a 270 engine in it that I might have to pay scrap metal price for. The owner is fitting the cab and bed to a S-10 rolling frame with V-8 power and he thinks the old running gear is junk!
