My 40 frame is 113 inches and the s-10 is 117.9 inches. The 40 frames must be shorter than the advance designs. will 4 inches make the wheels look off center or is there a way to fix that? Confused

Can't you just cut and weld what ya need? I've seen long beds become short beds. Usually cut/shortened under the cab. Don't take my word for it, I'm a moron

According to this, the 40 wheelbase is shorter than 41-46. S-10 frames are easy to shorter, there is a factory slip-joint that you can take apart, take off some material, and slip the frame together again with the shorter wheelbase. Easy to do. 4 inches is a huge difference and will look terrible if you don't do anything to it, IMO.

I think the 40 cab dimensions are similar to the 46, just a little shorter in the cowl area I believe. I had to notch the inside bottom edges of my front fenders about 1/4"-1/2" on each side for frame clearance, but you can't tell once the running boards are installed as they fill in the gap and make up the difference. That's the hardest area of making the truck fit on the S-10 frame though.

Thanks 46GMCPU. I want my 40 to be modern underneath but still look old on top. I saw your photobucket and you,ve got the right idea. I,ve got a straight axle with a disk brake set up and a manuel rack and pinion. I may go that route instead of the S-10 frame. Cain,t decide.

Easy fix....the s10 frame slides into itself. Cut the welds, adjust to the wheelbase you need and weld back together.
