on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Sep 2004 Posts: 19 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Sep 2004 Posts: 19 | Is there a replacement windshield wiper assembly that is electric that will fit the existing holes in a 1954 half ton Chevy? The original vacuum setup is missing and I would rather have the convenience and control of electric if it is available.
Thanks for the info.

They have an electric wiper system in there. Not sure if it's a direct bolt up though. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | almega,
I bought one from Truck Shop, after they told me it did not interfere with the radio. It installed easily and worked fine but it was in the way of the radio. There does not seem to be an aftermarket electric wiper for the 54/55st that works with the original radio in place.
Also, some vendors say their aftermarket electric wipers work in either 6v or 12v systems and some list separate 6v and 12v wipers.
There was an original 6v 2-speed wiper as an option in 1954 (#320). These are not very common - Golden State Pickup Parts used to sell them when they could find them (at something like $150).

I checked Chevy Duty's catalog and they do have a motor and the wiper arms but none of the linkage that I could find. Do you know of any where that can be found? If not is there a source of drawings that I could get so I could fabricate the necessary parts to make it work?
Thanks again.

A while ago, I posted a "want ad" for drive-arms and posts for a '54/55st truck (I think the '54/55st is different from other years) in the Swap Meet on this website and within a day I received responses from two sellers.
Good luck, Tim | | |
