Hi,

I put a small block in my 56 Chevy pickup and am researching options for the throttle linkage. I really want to keep the original gas pedal and was wondering if the reproduced factory linkage will work with a 4 BBL carburetor, since they are wider than the original 2 BBL that would have been on a 265 in 1956. Thanks.

yes, won't need more than minor tweaking, the same linkage was used to '59 with any V8, any carb, small or large trucks

The aftermarket V-8 linkage works OK with the stock pedal. The problem that I have found with them is that the upper bracket is made to mount to a flat surface but the correct location on the firewall is curved. I had a discussion with the Truck Shop about this issue several years ago but they are still selling the same unit. It can be made to work. I think all the aftermarket suppliers sell the same part. It will work with a 4bl as well.

Ive done a couple with that kit & it worked real well. The thing that throws you is the way the unit comes is not the way it goes on. You have to separate the parts. Its much easier to put in while the engine is out. I wish I used that on my latest one. I used A Lokar pedal system with a cable because it is easier to put in the carpet. The factory system is better.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

Good news. I will order it. One step closer to a running pickup!
