Picked up a 41 chevy out of a barn a few months ago that was parked there since 1996 and work on it every Monday, rebuilt the entire front suspension and steering so far.

Got a lot done yesterday, rebuilt carb last week and this week I installed a new fuel pump bent all new fuel lines and installed dual fuel filters then after cleaning the gas tank out I put fresh gas in it and she fired up and runs pretty good but I have a sound in the transmission that may be why it got parked, has a low pitch roar kinda bearing sound, changed fluids and no different but goes away when ya push in the clutch, have it on jack stands to go through the gears and it's bad in all of them what do you guys think it is? main shaft bearing?

Throwout bearings generally get louder when you step on the clutch.
By stepping on the clutch you are stopping the main shaft and cluster from turning. I would say that you have bearing problems in the trans.

thanks for the confirmation! I guess after I get the brakes finished I will get a crash course in this old transmission and I hope they still have bearings available for an old granny 4 speed smile
