when i got my truck all of the wires under the dash were eaten away . i bought a wire harness from classic parts of america and installed it two years ago. it took awhile but i got everything to work. now i want wire the turn signals but one of my problems is i can't follow the old wires. under the dash there was a three prong flasher and plug but i don't know where the three wires go they are marked X,L,and P i think the yellow wire from the switch(also new from classic parts)goes to L, and black bulb wire goes to p but i don't know where the X wire goes. please help, brian

Brian,

These instructions are for 54/55st panel-body truck. However, the 55st wiring for a regular-cab truck is generally the same.

There appears to be a pink lead that goes from power (?) on the rear of the gauges (page 5) to the flasher (page 4)?

There is also a pink wire that goes to the flasher harness (page 5) to one of the rear lamps (page 7) - pink to ribbed black rear wire (driver's side rear lamp - page 11).

Is that confusing enough?

everything is working now. the tech from classic parts told me to remove the #22 wire replace with the # 33 wire , remove the white wire at the brake lights and use the pink for left and purple for right. the X is power from the igintion switch. P is an indicator light and L is the yellow wire from the turn signal switch. i waited until it was dark and that made it so much easier to work it alone. thanks for the tips tim but i used the power from the ignition because it was easier.
