Does anyone have a source or know where I can have made up the rear brake cables for my 1948 1 ton? I believe it is a 137 wheel base.

Will 19.5" rims and tires fit the 1/2 and 3/4 ton front fenders?

I had read somewhere or was told they would fit; but when I compared the 19.5's to the original 17" rims I became a little nervous. I had to go have a beer to settle myself down. smile (Ok, I had two)

Thank you in Advance. Tom

There have been posts on here where members have had new cables made up by Inline Tube, using the old ends. I believe Jim Carter can have them made if given the length but it would be best to talk directly to him.

I don't know what year truck you have but on my '57 3800 the front fenders are the same as 1/2 and 3/4 ton. Actually, all the sheet metal from the cab forward is the same.

Do you have 19.5" wheels?

I had 19.5 wheels and 8-19.5 tires front and back on my 52 3800 pickup. The tires fit nice and looked good, they filled the wheel wells.

When I get the truck back together I'll run the same size tire.

Tom, a couple years back I went through the whole parking brake cable thing and posted a thread like truckernix said. Jim Carter still carries the AD 1 ton cables, but check out the input I got back for stuff you want to hold onto for installing the new cables.

It's a quick job, so you can pat yourself on the back, kick back, and have another beer.

I also got the cables from JC but I recall havingto take some part off the old cable set up to make the new proper length cable work with the drum end attachment. Do NOT toss anything away until you have new parts fitting and attached properly. Jerry

tom i want to go for 19.5 rubber on my 52 3800 drw.reason is you can buy them up load range g if i remember right.seems like wieght i can haul goes up to 5,000 or more per tire.all depends on how soft or hard springs are so tire dont rub bed or under front fenders.of course weight is also limited by gross vehickle weight.i would just as soon have plenty of tire so i dont have anymore blowouts in toasty summer weather.and off road to load firewood ground clearance is always good lol. gl to you all on your projects
