The wires were never cut...the lights were unbolted from bed and left intact while I did some work, and then bolted back on. I have all other functions including both turn signals, flashers and when lights are turned on at switch....just no brake lights :confused: Maybe the stoplight switch?? (Bed was recently painted and they are LED)

On a conventional rig, turn signals ARE brake lights...a bed paint job would lead one to believe that lights lost their ground, but from your description, everything actually seems to work. The brake switch, although not involved in the painting procedure, is what fires both rear lights off simultaneously.

Looks like it was the stoplamp all along....I did some yoga moves and found that the arm that is released, when the brake is applied, is shot. The brake lights come on when the arm is moved by hand....never replaced one before....I love it when I learn something new :p
